Introducing: Copper-ToneMercury’s Audio-Grade AC Power Cord
What you need to know about your amp’s AC power cord

Your AC power cord is your amp's link to the power company -- but even more important, it's your first link in the chain of your guitar tone. Having a thin-copper AC power cord is like putting a tourniquet on your power supply. Thin power cords actually make your amp sound thin. So... when the size of the copper wire of your AC power cord matches your house wiring, it won't cut you short!

BUYER BEWARE: You cannot judge the gauge of the copper wire by the thickness of the cord. Instead, read the imprint on your cable. By law all power cords must be imprinted to tell you the wire gauge inside. You are looking for a number preceding a "G" or "AWG" -- the higher the number the lower the gauge -- you want higher gauge copper! The most common power cords are 18G or 18AWG (18 gauge wire) -- and they are puny! You want 14G (14AWG) to match the copper wire gauge of your building. Some manufacturers use thick plastic which gives the power cord a thicker appearance, but has nothing to do with the copper wire gauge on the inside.

One of the easiest upgrades you can do!

Why should you use Mercury's audio-grade Copper-Tone AC power cord? You may be surprised to learn that most amps are sold with severely under-sized AC power cords. And you'll usually find the same or incorrectly-sized AC power cords being used for everything from 5 watt to 100 watt amps. Did you know that the AC power cords supplied with virtually ALL amps were designed for everything but amps? It's extremely rare that a manufacturer will supply a power cord beefy enough to do the job -- yet virtually all tube-based amplifiers could easily benefit -- and sound a lot better -- with this simple, inexpensive fix. Even if you spend thousands of dollars for an amp, if all you use is a puny little power cord it isn't going to sound as good as it could with a audio-grade AC power cord.

Here’s what Other Players are Saying...

"My Mercury AC Power Cables arrived and they DO make a difference, I A/B them against a standard issue Marshall ac cable... The Mercury Magnetics Power Cable wins hands down!  WELL worth the cost... Me a happy camper.  Thanks Mercury! :-)  -- Bob McCarron

"Just want to say thanks for an amazing product! How many times you can buy a product that actually does everything it claims it does?

Thank you very much!" -- Omar Sostre

"I was going to order a couple, but if my Mercury modified amps sound any bigger, I may have to move (lol)! :)" -- Robert Volenec

"I used my new Mercury AC cord tonight! I love it! Cleaned out the little bit of hiss I had before. Thanks for making such great stuff!" -- Justin Newell

"Just got my power cord from you. I switched it with the one that came with my amp. First impression is 'incredible!' The notes are more articulate, clean, and chords explode! I'm gonna A/B the two today, but this is the best move I could have made to improve an already great amp. How does great get better? Mercury's power cord." -- Bruce Cooke

"I normally don't write to praise any kind of product but I couldn't help to do it about your AC power cord. Man... what a difference it made in my amps, the tone I get now is unbelievable!!! Definitely the best money I've spent this year in improving my guitar tone; it's so impressive that even my drummer noticed that, really!!! You guys REALLY deliver!!!! Highly recommended!!!!" -- Bernardo Garcia Herrera

"One interesting note. I finally tried the heavier gauge AC cable you gave me and there is a slight difference. To my ear it seems to decrease sag on notes a bit... and make the amp sound a little more responsive. It is very subtle, but I tried it with several amps and even the higher power amps seem to benefit from it. I did not think that a heavier AC cable would make much of a difference... and it is subtle... but I can hear it especially when I hit notes hard. Very interesting. Seems like a very worthwhile investment in yet another part of the signal chain that I took for granted. I always learn something from you guys. Thanks for turning me on to that... I’ll definitely pick up a few more from you!" -- Rick Gould

"It might sound far-fetched but when I swapped the AC cable on my amp for one of these, the slight amount of hiss I had from running the cut tone control a little higher went away. I could hear more clarity and a little increase in the punchiness of my low-end, too. I liked it so much, I bought two more for my Pedal Powers so I'd have equally matched power throughout my rig. Try 'em out. It's $10 well spent and if you aren't sold, you’re only out $10." -- Jonny Macintosh

Copper-ToneMercury's audio-grade AC power cord

Why hasn’t someone told me about this before?

Audio-grade AC power cords may be one of the music industry's most obvious and simple, yet best-kept secrets. Did you know that they're behind the quiet edge that some high-end pro players experience with their amps? And, they're also a "hidden trick" for many amp showcases.

Your amp runs cooler because audio-grade AC power cords have a higher current capacity. Thinner cords make your amp run hotter -- creating unacceptable losses. Our Copper-Tone audio-grade AC power cord matches the wiring of your house, apartment or building. It's rated up to a whopping 1,875 watts to deliver whatever your amp needs, quickly and smoothly. So your amp will benefit whether it's 5 watts or 250 watts.

Believe it or not, there are similar AC power cords available that cost as much as $700.00 (we're not kidding!) that probably won't give you more noticeably better sound. You're better off putting your money into something truly meaningful -- like transformer upgrades.

The bottom line...

You really need to replace your lossy, undersized AC power cords with Copper-Tone -- the professional audio-grade upgrades from Mercury Magnetics.
