Transformer Mounting Styles

Transformers mount onto chassis several ways. How the transformer mounts to a chassis determines the mounting style you order.

Most have standardized mounting styles. Within the industry there are several naming conventions used. However, Mercury has adapted a simple, easy-to-remember system.

When ordering you'll need to know the following --

  1. The Mounting Method: horizontal, vertical or flat.

  2. The Footprint: the center hole to center hole dimensions.

  3. The Layout: 2- or 4-hole.

2-Hole Mounting Style (A-Frame) 4-Hole Mounting Style

Horizontal mount note the bobbin's horizontal position --

Vertical mount -- note the bobbin's vertical position

Flat mount -- the transformer's laminations are parallel to the chassis

2-Hole A-Frame Mounting Style

A-Frame Horizontal mount -- note the bobbin's horizontal position

A-Frame Vertical mount -- note the bobbin's vertical position

Notes:

  1. Endbells (caps that cover the bobbins and laminations) are optional. Ask your Mercury Representative about color options and custom dressings.

  2. Not all transformers and chokes can be fitted with endbells. Your Mercury Representative will let you know.

  3. A-Frame Mounts are standardized.

  4. 4-Hole Mount transformers mount in several ways, including L-brackets and endbells with "feet" (stamped and folded, one-piece).
